2019 is history and web changes are coming in 2020. Like it or not.
A lot of changes have occurred on the world wide web to affect websites, social media and web video. Some of which you are NOT going to like very much! Half the searches in 2020 will be voice searches. Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn reach are all starting to decline as well. What should you do? Find out more in this new blog post.
According to Neil Patel, who is a top authority on all things SEO and web searches says that the number one thing is that video reach by searches will drop dramatically. Literally, everybody is doing video these days on YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram etc. and then chopping them up to distribute everywhere. The solution would seem to be “multi-cast”. In other words, create ONE video that you can distribute across multiple channels. When you’re doing this you can also go live as well. When you go “live” you’re liable to get more and better engagement. The platforms such as Facebook are competing with television so there going to want to push your video out to all your subscribers in order to compete with the TV stations, etc. If you then release them as recorded videos, you’ll get more interaction and sharing of your content. You should aim to do live videos at least once a month.
Bite size educational and interactive content will trend upwards rapidly. Bite size content like pictures or charts that quickly teach you how to get more web traffic, more Facebook likes, find real estate quicker, find lowest prices online, etc. through short pictorial displays will get many more shares. Plus, more likes will result in more shares, as well.
Search traffic will decrease dramatically on mobile. Searches on mobile dropped from 13% to 5% by the end of 2019.
Voice traffic is on the increase. Use structured mark-up on your website which will help you to get more rich snippets which result in more voice search traffic, which helps fight the decrease in mobile organic traffic.
Google will keep doing market consolidation in Search. Currently, there is a big competitive situation between Google and Amazon. There’s a “Buy Now” button on Google so that you can purchase without even going to the seller’s website. Google will continue testing more of these type of methods to keep visitors locked within there sphere of influence.
Also, Google can now provide companies with direct leads or purchasing an item from you without even going to your website or online shopping cart. The good news is that this can also increase your revenue because according to Jumpshot, 49% of all searches on Google result in no clicks. If you don’t adapt with along these changes, unfortunately, you could be left in the dust.
Influencer marketing budgets will decrease. Currently, social engagement is declining. Engagement rates are now at all time lows. Bottom line is that if you’re paying for ads and promotions, instead of increasing the budget, spread the fund around to multiple influencer channels. Similar to investing in a mutual fund instead of single stocks. Don’t put all your eggs in one (or two) baskets.
Social media stories will no longer be as popular as they have been. If you want to do well on platforms like Instagram, you have to use something called “close friends” to attract people to join your “close friend” group, in exchange for exclusive content.
Shopping experiences will become more adaptive. Virtual reality shopping and purchasing via pins on Pinterest will start to become possible in the upcoming years. Even though you may scoff at such things as “virtual shopping” now, in the near future it will become a possibility that could leave you in the dust and cobwebs.
